2027 SCHEDULE

HOST MENTALITY

As StuMo staff, you are an owner of SMC! With every student who attends, we want them to feel welcomed, cared for, and attended to. We have so many opportunities to embrace our five values throughout SMC!

Tips to own the conference:

  • If you see a need, fill it! This applies during setup/teardown as well as throughout SMC.

  • Engage students and volunteers who look lost and help them if you can.

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

Emergencies and crises on-site are extremely rare, but here’s what to know to be prepared.

 Emergencies May Include:

  • Medical emergencies

  • Theft or vandalism

  • Exhibit crisis (fire, bomb threats, active shooter, etc.)

  • Local issues with property management or neighboring retailers

Emergency Procedures:

  • Step 1: In the case of an emergency, please call the security on-site. Contact information will be provided for you on January 1.

  • Step 2: Call/text Lyndsey to communicate the situation.

  • Remain calm, use common sense, and follow all instructions from emergency response teams.

  • Get the facts! Be prepared to provide detailed information for StuMo to draft a statement if needed.

Professional Demeanor:

  • Regardless of circumstances, in every crisis or emergency situation it’s important that all SMC volunteers and staff demonstrate a sense of compassion and a commitment to safety.

  • Additionally, volunteers and staff should demonstrate empathy for the situation and communicate that action is being taken to contain or resolve the issue.

ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS?

If you are wondering about anything else, please refer to the Staff Roles sheet above for who to direct your questions to! If you still aren’t able to find what you are looking for, feel free to reach out to Lyndsey.
